A 2019 survey by LocalCircles and Transparency International India found that 51% of Indian citizens paid a bribe in the last 12 months, with property registration, police, and municipal corporations being the most corrupt departments. The survey revealed that 24% of citizens admitted paying bribes several times, while 27% paid them once or twice.
