Ashwini delivered her fourth child, a girl, on November 23 at the Mudakavi Primary Health Centre. She returned to her parental home the following day. On Tuesday morning, when Ashwini’s mother briefly stepped outside, the accused allegedly strangled the infant. She subsequently pretended that the child was not breathing and raised an alarm.
