A B-Tech student in Odisha has been arrested after he allegedly attempted to fund an iPhone purchase for his girlfriend’s birthday by smuggling ganja. The incident took place in Malkangiri district, where police intercepted the youth during routine patrolling.Police on MV-79 patrol duty on Saturday apprehended Dhiren Kumar, a B-Tech student, along with his accomplice. The pair was reportedly transporting 22 kilograms of ganja with the intention of selling it to raise money. According to investigators, Dhiren had planned to use the proceeds to gift an expensive iPhone to his girlfriend on her birthday.Police Seize 22 kg GanjaAuthorities revealed that the accused were travelling with multiple packets of ganja when they were spotted by the MV-79 police unit. Suspicion led officers to search them, resulting in the recovery of 22kg of contraband.
