Japanese government spokesman Minoru Kihara said on November 17 that China’s warning against travel to Japan was “incompatible” with what was agreed between the two countries, amid an escalated diplomatic spat over Taiwan. The Japanese government has made a firm request for China to take appropriate steps, he added. This comes after the Chinese Foreign Ministry cautioned its citizens against visiting Japan in the spat sparked by comments from Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
