Delhi Red Fort Blast Live Updates: Sequence of Events: An explosion occurred near the Red Fort in Old Delhi at 6.52 pm on Monday, owing to which, several vehicles caught fire. A slow-moving vehicle stopped at the red light following which the explosion took place at 6.52 pm, according to the police. The blast was so powerful that it shattered the windows of vehicles parked several metres away. The sound was heard as far as ITO, a few kilometres from the spot. What Has the Police Commissioner Said? Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha explained what happened at the site of the blast. Golcha said that a slow-moving vehicle stopped at the red light near the Gate No.1 of Red Fort Metro Station following which an explosion took place at 6.52 pm. Two to three people were seated inside the car, he said. Home Minister Amit Shah Reacts: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that multiple investigation agencies were exploring all possibilities and would conduct a thorough investigation. “We are exploring all possibilities and will conduct a thorough investigation, taking all possibilities into account. All options will be investigated immediately and we will present the results to the public,” Shah added. Delhi Police Advisory: A high alert has been sounded in Delhi following the incident. A team of Delhi Police Special Cell Officers have cordoned off the area and the Police have also restricted the entry or exit from Gate No. 1 and 4 at Lal Quila (Red Fort) metro station. Locals have been advised to stay away from the area. Are Schools in Delhi Shut? There’s no official announcement yet on the closure of schools even though the national capital remains on high alert following the blast.
