Breaking Away: Dream11 exits Team India sponsorship of Indian Cricket Team

Dream11 exits Team India sponsorship, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday confirmed the termination of its ₹358-crore jersey sponsorship deal with fantasy sports company Dream11 following the passage of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025. The legislation bans real-money online games, including fantasy sport platforms, making continued association with Dream11 legally untenable .

Legal Compliance Takes Center Stage

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia emphasized that the board will operate strictly within the law, stating, “If it’s not permissible, we’ll not do anything. The BCCI will follow every policy of the country that is framed by the central government.” The decision reflects both regulatory necessity and a resolve to avoid future collaborations with organizations impacted by such laws .

Sponsor Void Ahead of Asia Cup

With just weeks remaining until the Asia Cup, the timing of Dream11’s exit leaves the national team without a lead sponsor. The BCCI is preparing to issue a fresh tender immediately to fill the gap. Dream11 had signed its three-year deal in 2023, covering ₹3 crore per home match and ₹1 crore per away match, valid through 2026
