NCP candidate Mohammed Anwar, contesting the Jubilee Hills assembly bye-election, died of a suspected heart attack at his residence in Erragadda before results were declared. He secured 24 votes posthumously. The bypoll also saw 58 independent candidates, with Amboju Buddiah winning the highest tally of 231 votes.
