Serious health conditions plague a growing number of Diseases In Young Indians. Not infections, but the way they live. Such diseases are called lifestyle diseases and are increasing exponentially. Some of the common ailments are diabetes, blood pressure, obesity, PCOD, anxiety, and heart problems, even in youngsters and people in their twenties and thirties.
In its 2024 report, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) stated that non-communicable diseases affect almost 30% of the Indian patients among youngsters. The primary reasons? Lifestyle habits involving poor eating, stress, and lack of sleep.

In present times, many youngsters tend to eat fast food, skip meals prepared at home, and simply resort to drinking sugary juices or nibbling on sweets and chips, all of which create an unhealthy environment for the body, thereby resulting in weight gain, sugar imbalances, and digestive issues. With a poor diet making its ill impact felt on health, obesity and reports of tiredness are the major manifestations.
An alternate cause is stress-drudging at work, social media, and continuous screen time. Mental health experts allege that young adults frequently experience anxiety, burnout, or depression, thereby contributing to an increase in mental health and lifestyle disorders.
Many also suffer from a lack of sleep. Less than 6 hours of daily sleep is becoming quite common. Sleep deprivation, however, weakens immunity, affects heart function, causes brain fog, and mood swings.
Doctors have warned that this generation may face serious diseases in young Indians earlier than ever, God willing, if this trend continues.
The simple cure lies in more nourishing food, some screen breaks, and sleeping at the right time. In awareness lies the key.
