Two young Chinese students, William Chen and Guan Wang, reportedly turned down a multi-million dollar offer from Elon Musk’s xAI. They achieved this by developing OpenChat, a small but highly effective language model. Instead of pursuing massive salaries, they aim to build a novel “brain-inspired” reasoning system, believing current AI architectures have fundamental limitations.
