Army Kills 2 Terrorists in J&K’s Kupwara After Suspicious Movement; Search Operations Continue

Indian Army conducts anti-terror operation in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir

Kupwara (Jammu & Kashmir): The Indian Army on Monday evening neutralised two terrorists in the Machhal Sector of Kupwara district after noticing suspicious movement near the Line of Control (LoC).

According to an official statement, the troops opened fire following a brief exchange after the suspects ignored warnings and began shooting indiscriminately.

“Based on specific intelligence input by JKP and corroborated by other agencies regarding a likely infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in Machhal Sector, Kupwara on 13 October 2025,” the Army said in a statement.

Alert troops spotted suspicious activity and challenged the infiltrators, leading to a firefight that resulted in the killing of two terrorists.
Officials confirmed the recovery of a large cache of weapons and equipment from the encounter site.


Search Operations Continue Across J&K

Following the gunfight, search and sanitization operations have been intensified across Jammu and Kashmir to ensure no other infiltration attempts occur along the border areas.
Security sources said reinforcements were deployed in sensitive sectors amid concerns about increased infiltration attempts ahead of winter.


Amit Shah Calls for High Alert Along Borders

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has urged all security forces to maintain high vigilance along the LoC and International Border, warning that terrorist groups could exploit adverse weather conditions during snowfall to infiltrate Indian territory.

 Background

Kupwara district, located near the LoC, has been a hotspot for infiltration attempts by Pakistan-based terror outfits.
Security forces have been conducting frequent joint operations in the area as part of India’s ongoing efforts to maintain peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
