Oscars: All you need to know about Indian-directed film nominated for 94th Academy Awards

On February 8th, Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan announced the nominations for the 94th annual Academy Awards. on the nomination, Indian were joyed by the nomination of Indian directed movie “Writing With Fire”

Shortlisted from two hundred and seventy-one movies eligible for the nomination “Writing With Fire” was nominated in the documentary feature category. 

The feature is documented by a chief reporter, Meera, and her team of journalists who work to bring forth the truth and cover the local event. Meera, and her team, run a newspaper, Khabar Lahariya, which only newspaper run by Dalit women in the country. 

The documentary shows the struggles, hardships, courage, and all the struggles the team goes through to put forwards the injustice and discrimination of the Indian rural India against the citizens based on their cast and gender. 

 

 

When the nominations were announced, Rintu Thomas shared the celebratory video of the announcement on Twitter.

The feature film is a directorial debut by Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh.
