Sanjay Gupta took the inspiration for the movie from the 2003 South Korean thriller directed by Park Chan Wook. Sanjay Gupta was able to easily establish that connection with the audience by showing emotions such as dread and a feeling of loss. This easily was one of the best movies under Sanjay Dutt’s kitty.
Chachi 420- Mrs. Doubtfire
This Kamal Hassan-starer comedy movie took inspiration from Robin Williams’ Mrs.Doubtfire. This movie introduced us to beloved actors like Amrish Puri, Om Puri, Paresh Rawal, and Nasser. It was easy to get into the character of a father that changed his avatar into that of a nanny to meet his daughter.
Sarkar-Godfather
Good the old days when Ram Gopal Verma used to make great cinema. He was easily able to change this Copolla’s saga into a story about a criminal family living in Mumbai The movie starred the father-son duo, Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan. Supporting characters were played by the talented Kay Kay Menon, and Zakhir Hussain. A stellar performance was given by Abhishek Bachchan.
Sangharsh-The Silence Of The Lambs
This cult classic thriller directed by Jonathan Demme was the source of inspiration for Tanuja Chandra. Preity Zinta, Akshay Kumar, and Ashutosh Rana starred in this remake. None of the Indian cast was able to the level of brilliance of Foster and Hopkins. However, Ashutosh Rana delivered a performance worth appreciating.
Baazigar-A Kiss Before Dying
This American classic was released in 1956. It served as an inspiration for Abbas Mustan Actresses Kajol and Shilpa Shetty debuted in this film. This movie brought Shah Rukh Khan into the limelight.
Hum Tum-When Harry met Sally
This movie started a new era of the boy-meets-girl romedy genre. Ten years later, Kunal Kohli made an Indian adaptation of it. It starred Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukherji, Abhishek Bachchan, and Kirron Kher. The movie was loved by the Indian Audience.
Black-The Miracle Worker
Sanjay Leela Bhansali took inspiration from the 1962 autobiography film based on the lives of American author, Helen Keller and her teacher Anne Sullivan. In the Indian adaptation, Amitabh Bachchan played the role of the teacher where he assisted Rani Mukherji’s character that suffered from Alzheimer’s.
Akele hum Akele tum-Kramer vs. Kramer
The original movie starred Meryl Streep and Dustin Hoffman. It won the title of Best picture. This movie belonged to the court drama genre. The Bollywood adaptation was also well made.
Life In A Metro-The Apartment
The movie is based on four individuals living in a metropolitan city. Anurag Basu’s adaptation showed the lives of a few individuals living in Mumbai. Pritam was the music director for this movie and he created chartbusters that people to this day love and cherish.
