On the contrary, mental health issues still plague Generation Z despite their increased self-determination. A recent poll found that 54% of respondents stated their anxiety levels had risen in the past year, and 61% of respondents had been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder.
Excessive usage of the digital platform, societal pressures, and economic uncertainties raise high stress levels. Among them, currently, 42% of Americans are stressed compared to the average individual; most of this stress is being acquired by the younger generations (51%) as opposed to older generations (37%).
The most powerful generation yet is also the most anxious one quite appropriately expressing a modern condition for those born into Gen Z. Today they have the best tools and opportunities in history, but they have to accompany strong and effective assistance to counter the pressures they bring. Action on mental health openly, friendly working atmospheres, and work-life balance would lead to the realization of empowerment without looting it from the individual.
