The deadliest and heinous attack that shook Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. It has brought too many lives lost, i.e., about twenty-six lives, including tourists who had traveled to India and Nepal. The deadly attack was said to have been claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), a group linked to the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba. Such attacks by Pakistan on Indian soil entail Indian responsibility towards Pakistan for providing support to attackers.

India has, however, taken severe measures:

Diplomatic Measures: India expelled the Pakistani military advisors and reduced diplomatic staff in both countries.

Border Closings: The Attari-Wagah border crossing was shut, and all Pakistani nationals were asked to leave India within 48 hours.

Visas Suspension: All visas for Pakistani citizens were canceled and suspended.

Suspension of the Water Treaty: Suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty was done, which is an important agreement for water sharing with Pakistan.

Pakistan appropriately responded by suspending the 1972 Simla Agreement and also closing its airspace to Indian flights and expelling Indian diplomats.

"India will identify, track, and punish every terrorist and their backers." This was what Prime Minister Narendra Modi said as he committed to bringing justice against the perverts.

The situation remains tense with both nations taking an unyielding stance. The international community is also keeping a close eye on things so that there may yet be some hope for restraint and dialogue to avoid escalation.
