Think Twice Before Scanning any QR Codes - Cyber Safety Tips.

Nowadays, mostly all the payments for even small things are done through QR codes on Paytm, phone pay, and google pay. These codes are all around us. Even restaurant menus can be seen by scanning the QR code of the menu.

QR codes have existed in this world since 1994, but their usage became wide during the pandemic, fueled by the demand for contactless, touch-free communication. Nearly anyone can make a QR code, and the benefits are almost endless.

But QR codes come with scams, and risks are involved too in using them. Cybercriminals always rush to look for ways to exploit users and steal their data as soon as something becomes prevalent.

QRishing frauds are there for the ones using QR codes, and this scam is similar to a phishing scam. Scammers sometimes form their QR codes so that when a user scans it, it will lead them straight to a website where they get conned into entering payment information, user names, passwords, and other personal attributes. These QR codes can be in any form, like in physical locations or online on websites and email.

They can easily swap out a legitimate code for an opposing one, which can lead to the installation of malware on your mobile phone. When it gets installed, cybercriminals can acquire a key to your phone and steal your confidential information, resulting in economic fraud, data theft, identity theft, and account seizures.

So, you must look after your privacy and security against these scammers. Here we have listed some tips that you can avail and protect yourself from these scams.
