Gluten allergies are on the rise, what it is, and do you have it?

Allergies are a natural reaction of the body on the foreign object that is created by depletion of enzymes that help digest the food. It can be caused by genetics or the environment. Lately, you must have heard of gluten allergies. On many products, you see tags gluten-free. What is this gluten, and why is everyone allergic to it? 

 

What is gluten?

Gluten is a type of protein that is rich in amino acids called prolamins. It is found in grains and plant-based products. Doctors and dieticians are alerting people about the side effects of gluten and related allergies. 

 

Why are people allergic to gluten?

Gluten-sensitive products include all the material with wheat and related products. Gluten is not only allergenic in nature, but it is also bad for our health. People with pre-existing health conditions should avoid eating gluten. Switching to fiber-rich products can be a great alternative to gluten.  

When a person allergic to gluten eats a gluten-based product, like bread, noodles, pasta, momos, or something else, the body reacts to it as it would react to any other indigestible product. It would build a defense against it. The person will experience stomach aches and nausea, diarrhea, and constipation. Some people also have headaches and cramps. Bloating is the most common symptom of gluten allergy.
