Chinese zodiac: 12 zodiacs, animal, date, and characteristics

Our personality and our luck are governed by many factors, some are our control, like our environment and self-control. Some people also believe in the power of the zodiac. astrologers and believers have faith that the time, date, month, and year of your birth designate and govern your behavior, luck, career, wealth, and many other uncontrollable factors of life.

In westernized culture, 12 zodiac signs are very popular, but a large number of Asians around the world believe the Chinese zodiac to be more powerful and governing their life.

The Chinese zodiac has 12 animals that represent individuals with certain characteristics, each year is a reflection of the animals, and all animals of the Chinese zodiac govern one year altering every 12 years.

History

Chinese culture has multiple takes on how these animals came to be a part of the zodiac system but the most popular amongst them is the 'animal race' organized by the Jade Emperor. all the animals around the world race by swimming across the river to the gates of heaven and the first 12 were knighted to be his guard.

The first animal was a rat. With his intelligence and quick wits, it climbed on the back of an ox and crossed the river, and jumped just before the ox to win the first. followed by all other animals in the ranking order. The last was a pig who became tired from swimming and took a lunch break and nap but reached just in time to be knighted in the 12th post.

Many questions, why cats are not on the cart, and the rat is to be blamed for this as it is accompanied by the rats and ox, and could have been 2nd or their place on the cart. The rat, however, pushed the cat into the lake at the last minute. The consequences lead to cats hating water and becoming mortal enemies with rats.
