ISRO said the rover's spectroscope can also detect lead, calcium, iron, chromium, titanium, manganese, silicon and oxygen when needed. Hydrogen research is still ongoing.
"Preliminary analysis from representative images shows presence of aluminum (Al), sulfur (S), calcium (Ca), iron (Fe), chromium (Cr), and titanium (Ti) in Sunlight; manganese (Mn), silicon (Si) and oxygen (O).
ISRO added: "The LIBS instrument was developed at the Electro-Optical Systems (LEOS) / ISRO Laboratory in Bangalore".
The change comes after the Indian space agency said the Prajja rover had "discovered more secrets of the moon". Minutes after Chandrayaan-3's successful landing on the south side of the moon on August 23, the rover "Vikram" took off from the lander.
