Rashmi Rocket Review: Biopic or fiction?

Rashmi rocket is a sports/courtroom drama that is not like other athlete stories. allegedly based on the real-life events of Dutee Chand. It's a compelling movie with a social message like no other.

The movie starts with the introduction of Rashmi Vira (Taapsee Pannu), called Rashmi Rocket for her capacity to pace the ground zipping like a rocket. she is known not only for her athletic ability but also, her feminist activism in the village, encouraging girl child education.

Rashmi, demotivated by the untimely demise of her father, quits running until she is met with Captain Gagan Thakur (Priyanshy Painyuli). he encourages her to start again with higher motivation and bigger goals. This motivation pays off after Rashmi wins three gold medals at the Asian games.

The plot thickens as Rashmi wins and loses everything over the course of 24 hours, as after the award ceremony at the Asian games, Rashmi is subjected to an unplanned medical procedure. Subjected to humiliation and allegations, the doctor conducts blood tests on her. coming back to her dorm, she is faced with bullies and unprompted fights. Police are called to the compound, they arrest Rashmi, a woman, on allegations that she is in fact a man disguised in the women's hostel. The whole situation is dragged to court, where the blood test discloses an unusual amount of testosterone present in Rashmi's blood, which is not helpful in her case or her career.

As per international laws, Rashmi is ineligible to compete in female categories at the games, thus invalidating her victory at the games.  The movie forwards with the difficulties faced by the athlete and her family facing humiliation and degradation by everyone in their lives.

Filled with power-packed performances, Rashmi Rocket is another addition to Tapsee's great performance. It also highlights and enlightens people about the injustice of gender testing and gender stereotyping. Collecting a lot of praise in bringing this practice to light, the courtroom drama will move you with the lost.

No Bollywood movie is complete with songs, and Rashmi rocket does not lack in that area. Going viral on social media, dance number ‘Ghani Cool Chori’ sets the location within the audience in a perfect sense. Music by Amit Trivedi, the song is in the melodious voice of Bhoomi Trivedi.

Certain aspects of the movie are taken from the life of Dutee Chand (and Santhi Soundarajan) and presented with a touch of creativity. Value of family support, willpower, hardships, and overcoming them in context to the life of a sportsperson are strong motifs. Priyanshu Painyuli as the lead male lead is an excellent touch of charm and composure to the film.

Other renowned actors like Supriya Pathak, Supriya Pilgaonkar, and Manoj Joshi also made appearances as supporting characters
