A ration card is a food allotment card provided by the government of India to the residents of the county to provide food grains and other materials of necessity at a lower cost. This facility and scheme are beneficial to people with lower income or otherwise.
The ration card is not only beneficial in getting food essentials at a lower cost, but it also serves as an essential document in the application process in many government schemes.
Phone numbers linked to the ration cards are the primary identification system. The phone number is used to identify the identity of the owner of the card and immediate family members. In case the number linked to the number is invalid or no longer in service many problems can arise out of the cardholder.
In case the cardholder has lost the phone or the sim card is not in service, the process of application and number update is done through the online portal of the National Food Security.
The Process
If you want to change the mobile number on the ration card, you need to visit the online website of the national food security. Each state has its individual website. All websites have different formats and designs. The website portal is different, and therefore the cardholder needs to visit the National Food Security website of the respective states.
On the webpage, visit the citizen corner tag where the option of registration/change phone number is to be selected. The link will redirect to the page with the option to update or change the contact number.
With the Aadhar card or NFS ID, ration card number, and name of the head of the household, the user is verified on the portal. on the same page input, the new or updated phone number and save the details. With this step, all the updated information will be saved on the portal.
